Dust off your passport people!  The Australian borders are open, let’s make the most of it and start looking for our dream opportunity overseas. There are several ways of going about this. Read below for some great tips and tricks.

Do you already have working rights in a country of choice?

Are you able to get a visa in another country that appeals? This would be the easiest way to move overseas, given a company wouldn’t have to sponsor you. You could apply from Australia and interview remotely, or move without a job and apply from there. Then once you are living there you could find work from there.

Do your research.
Get online, facebook, instagram and websites. Do your research into a country that appeals and ask people in various groups how they managed to move to the country. Find out what type of visa they were able to be granted. Also, ask them about, the pro’s and con’s of living in that particular country. Don’t be afraid to ask them questions about their experiences. You would be surprised how many people have moved to different countries and found sponsorship and roles.

Find work from Australia, then move.
A long-term game is to find a company that really appeals to you, and has the same values, a great culture AND will sponsor and relocate their staff. Find this company and start networking, researching, and studying to get there.

Contact a recruiter.
Find a good recruiter who deals with overseas placements. This is another great way of getting work because they will know all the in’s and out’s of which visa you might be eligible for, the company details, and life as an expatriate. Always remember though, you will need to do your own research. Don’t take everything the recruiter says at face value.

Go for a holiday before moving.
It’s a good idea to visit the country first, just in case you give up your current job, your home and move across the ocean to a place you don’t like! When on holiday, talk to people who live there, ask lots of questions. Talk to the local community, find out if you like the country, the culture, and the people. It’s a big deal and requires research.

Have a great resume
