This is a list of things that should not be included in a cover letter:
- Spelling and grammar errors
- Salary expectations (unless the job ad specifically asks for salary requirements in your cover letter)
- Your headshot
- Any graphics, graphs, pictures or photographs
- Negative comments about your previous job
- Negative comments about your previous colleagues
- Information that is already in your resume
- Any information that is unrelated to the job position or company
- Incorrect information
- Lies about your qualifications or experience
- Comments suggesting that you only see the job either as a stepping stone or stop gap
