Here are some ways you can describe your management skills on your resume:
- List your individual management strengths in your resume’s skills section. For example, you could list planning, rostering, organisation, providing feedback on performance, negotiation, communication, implementing procedures and team building which are all sought-after management skills.
- Explain how you applied your management skills to achieve success in your achievements section. An example of this could be “Managed a team of 7 staff members to improve their sales performance by an average of $20,000 per head over the full year, adding an additional $80,000 net profit to the business”.
- Highlight any awards or recognition of your achievements as a manager in your resume. You could impactfully do this in your Professional Summary by introducing yourself as ‘An award-winning manager…’
Make sure you include numbers as evidence of your management success, whether that be the size of your team, the size of the business, the impact you had in terms of retention, profit, improvement, revenue – anything that starts with a $ or ends in a % will be well received by potential employers.
