Here is the best way to write technical skills on your CV (also commonly called a resume):
- List your technical skills in the skills section of your CV. Specify the exact software, coding languages, tools, and systems you are familiar with.
- Only list technical skills relevant to the job you are applying for. For example, if you are applying for a web developer job, you don’t need to include your expertise with accounting software. Or if you are applying for a role in a different industry, there is no point in listing lots of technical skills that will not be understood or relevant. For instance, if you are leaving the travel industry, listing Sabre and Amadeus will not be helpful.
- Match your technical skills to the ones listed in the essential or desired requirements section of the job advertisement. Hiring managers will spell out the exact technical expertise they are looking for.
